Frequently Asked Questions
Is Satya Meditation religion-based?
Satya Meditation is not religion-based. It is a purely scientific process and available to people from all faiths.
Since the Satya Meditation technique is scientific, would it also work if one is an atheist?
Absolutely! The only faith that Satya Meditation requires is faith in yourself and the desire to your own beacon of light and healing.
Can you meditate during periods?
Yes you can. In fact, it will also result in alleviating any pain and help you feeling better.
Can practicing Satya Meditation harm me in any way?
No. Satya Meditation is not harmful to anyone in any way. In fact it will only benefit you by calming you down, helping you concentrate better, give you clarity in problem solving and alleviate your stress. It will give you peace of mind which leads to self-healing and a cheerful disposition.
Is Meditation the same as concentrating on a particular object, mantra or point between the eyebrows?
No. There is a clear difference between the two. Concentration is when one focuses with a certain effort at a particular object or is deeply thinking about something. Meditation is in fact just the opposite. It is, when all the thoughts disappear and you are in a state of just pure awareness. A state of thoughtless awareness.
What is the difference between placing attention and concentration?
The act of concentration requires an element of effort and a single pointed focus at a precise point. On the other hand, placing your attention at a particular point/part of the body during meditation simply means being ‘aware’ of that point/part of the body, without attempting to make any special efforts to focus. Meditation is about enlightened ‘awareness’ which is thought-free.
Is being in meditation similar to being in trance?
Not at all. In fact, in a trance one is in a hypnologic state where one is not completely aware of one’s environment or oneself. In meditation one is completely aware of oneself and the environment. You are just not thinking about it.
How does one attain that state of thoughtless awareness? Is it possible?
Yes, it is possible for every single person to reach the state of thoughtless awareness through the simple technique of Satya Meditation. It is a process that results in silence spontaneously. As a result of one’s awareness heightening by practicing daily meditation, one tends to not over think or connect many thoughts to an individual thought that comes to mind. And as a result of that, thoughts become fewer and the gap between the thoughts widens and that gap is your state of meditation.
Why do we sit with the palms open during Meditation, as opposed to having the hands on the gyan mudra?
The hands and palms are important receptors and transmitters of energy, and hence are left open facing upwards during Satya Meditation. Further, Satya Meditation aims at all-round personality development, and not just gaining knowledge – hence the hands are not specifically placed on the gyan mudra.
